We're looking for a manager to join our Model Management and Development Capital and Credit team. If successful you'll be part of a team that develops, maintains and supports the key models used within the Society to protect our financial sustainability.
The team are based at our head office in Leeds; however, we are working flexibly with approx. 1-2 days per fortnight in the office.
About the Role
In this role, your work will play an important part in the way financial sustainability and credit risk is managed. You'll do this by:
- Taking ownership of the ongoing development, management and testing of the most critical models that the Society uses. This will include supporting the redevelopment of the Society's IRB models to enable progress to be made on our application for regulatory approval.
- Alongside your day-to-day delivery, you'll always have an eye on regulatory compliance to ensure the team's models are aligned to this as well as take responsibility for understanding upcoming regulatory changes that could impact them.
- While you'll have no direct reports, this is a visible role within the team, and you'll be expected to share your SME knowledge and support others with their development and help contribute to a high-performing team.
Each of these areas will involve working closely with other teams within Balance Sheet Strategy and Analytics, Balance Sheet Control and Credit Risk departments so developing and maintaining this engagement will be an important aspect of the role.
About You
First and foremost, you'll be an experienced modeller or analyst with experience from your studies and/or your work experience. This'll be coupled with;
- Detailed understanding of one or more of IRB, Stress Testing, IFRS 9 Scorecards or Credit Risk Modelling.
- Knowledge of modelling requirements for product/project evaluation and an understanding of the requirements of the regulations relating to model development.
- A track record of delivering models or analytical projects within a business.
- A good awareness of the Financial Services industry and associated regulatory landscapes.

Senior Manager Regulatory Risk (Compliance)
Reporting to the Head of Regulatory Risk & MLRO
The Role:
- Deputize for the Head of Regulatory Risk & MLRO including attendance at senior and subsidiary risk committees
- Ensure that the Banks UK business is conducted in compliance with the Regulators rules and principles for the framework risks of customer conduct, data protection, market integrity and licensing oversight
- Ensure that current and emerging regulatory/legislative obligations and industry compliance trends are identified, understood and met through the provision of guidance and advice
- Development (and sometimes delivery) of training on policy development and implementation
- Lead and manage the Regulatory Risk Compliance Team of eight staff across non-financial crime, including customer conduct, consumer credit, FCS Conduct rules and Market integrity
- Writing, reviewing and presenting policies and documents to senior stakeholders
The Candidate:
Essential
- Significant experience (minimum of 5 years experience) in Banking/Financial Services and experience of retail banking
- Direct experience of successful interaction with the UK Regulators (FCA, ICO)
- Expert understanding of the UK Financial Services regulatory compliance environment including rules and principles
- Proven experience of Experience of successful interaction at a senior level up to and including ExCo and Board level
- Proven people leadership/team management
- Proven ability and experience at managing compliance horizon risk successfully.
- Excellent communication skills (report writing, presenting at senior forums, senior influencing skills)
- Experience within areas such as, Data protection compliance, Licensing Compliance, MiiFID, Treating Customers Fairly
Preferred
- Qualification to Diploma level in Compliance or Risk Management.
- Experience of operating within a broader Risk function which included other non-financial risks such as financial crime, operational risk, data risk, and IT/technology risk, conduct risk

We will be supportive and flexible to your circumstances, so for roles that offer a hybrid option we ask colleagues to attend their base location a minimum of 3 days a week so they can connect, collaborate and learn together. The other 2 days can be worked either from home or another bank location. Some of our roles are customer facing which means that its really important to be able to work with customers face to face and hybrid working isnt appropriate.
