Job Description:
AESG are currently recruiting Assistant Cost Managers to join our growing cost management team based in the UAE to work on various large-scale building and infrastructure projects.
As an Assistant Cost Manager, you will support project leaders in generating a high standard of service delivery, achieving successful outcomes for our clients, capturing, and sharing knowledge across projects, enhancing our culture of innovation, and reinforcing our reputation as a preferred service provider.
You should self-motivated, with the ability to assist the team's management of multiple projects and developing your career towards that objective. The role will primarily be pre-contract based, but with the opportunity to assist on post-contract based projects as required.

The successful candidate should be aspiring to gain experience working as part of a dedicated consultancy team delivering successful cost management services on major projects. You will need to demonstrate a desire to gain experience on major projects and the ability to engage and communicate effectively with clients, consultants, and contractors. The ideal candidate will be at the start of their journey to gain a technical and experience-based QS background, towards developing a better understanding of numerous design standards, to give confidence to promote an ability to communicate advice appropriately and effectively in due course. It is preferred the candidate is aspiring to achieve an MRICS qualification as their career develops, but not necessarily mandatory for the right individual.
Key Responsibilities:
- Day-to-day assistance to cost management activities across various projects.
- Assistance to the preparation of project cost estimates from concept through various stages of design using experience, historical data, and parametric ratios.
- Utilisation of the existing AESG developed digital tools and contributing to the creation of new and bespoke tools for our clients.
- Cost modelling (Excel).
- Estimating and functional cost planning (CostX).
- Assisting value engineering exercises.
- Undertaking cost management services with supervision.
- Delivering all work outputs in an accurate and timely manner under supervision.
- Providing support to the team leader/service leaders in the cost management of projects.
- Representing the company in a professional and diligent manner; meeting, negotiating, and corresponding with clients to form strong working relationships.
- Assisting the provision of reasoned advice on complex matters, understanding when to escalate matters to superiors.
- Assisting the provision of accurate cost advice and reporting to our clients.
- Maintaining effective communication to ensure all information is available for the successful completion of projects; liaising with other managers to ensure efficient financial control.
- Assisting the delivery of all work outputs in an accurate and timely manner.
- Representing the company in a professional and diligent manner; meeting, negotiating, and corresponding with clients to form strong working relationships.
- Support the commercial success and stability of the cost management division.
- Assist the successful delivery of projects to exemplary levels of quality.
Essential Skills:
- Experience in assisting the delivery of high quality cost management / quantity surveying services, or demonstration of a desire to do so.
- Previous assistant technical delivery experience gained within a global consultancy firm is preferred.
- Experience or exposure to regional projects is an advantage.
- Experience in the utiliszation and application of Microsoft excel for the creation of cost models.
- Experience in the utilisation of digital software for delivery of cost management services.
- Ability to organise and prioritise more than one task at a time.
- Working towards a professional qualification (RICS or similar), or demonstration of a desire to do so.
- BSc, BTech or MSc in Quantity Surveying or Contracts-related field.
- Minimum 2+ years of working experience.
