The Opportunity:
Due to our continued growth and diversification, we are seeking expressions of interest from experienced Geotechnical Engineers or Engineering Geologists with 15+ years of experience. Graduate Geotechnical Engineer
CMW Geosciences (CMW) is a specialist Geotechnical Consultancy with offices spread across Australia and New Zealand. Opportunity with CMW Geosciences on the Gold Coast
Our team on the Gold Coast is looking to grow and as such we are seeking expressions of interest from a Graduate Geotechnical Engineer who is keen, and has the energy and drive to help us build our operation.
In terms of general duties, you will be responsible for:
- Work with the technical team to develop technical solutions using basic engineering and geological
principles - Undertake technical and non-technical tasks at the direction of senior professional personnel with
support and training when required - Prioritise workload and work effectively and efficiently to meet deadlines
- Engage in timely and professional communication with clients, internal teams, sub-contractors, and
other individuals involved in day-to-day work - Work at the direction of senior technical staff to support progress in all aspects of project delivery with little supervision
- Responsible for own compliance with QHSE system requirements
- Ensure that the projects are completed on time, within budget and to the desired quality standards
- Maintaining good relationships with existing clients and working with the client relations/business development team to target new opportunities
- Undertake any other duties CMW may reasonably require you to perform
To be successful in this role, you will need to be a qualified Geotechnical Engineer, Civil Engineer or similar (Engineering Geologist) with minimal or no direct industry experience. You'll have the ability to use basic theoretical knowledge of engineering geology principles. Furthermore, you will be able to meet deadlines and have strong organisational and interpersonal skills. Because this role requires frequent travel to sites, you must have a valid Australian driver's licence and be willing to work on-site on a consistent basis.

Administration / Project Management Assistant
CMW is a trans-Tasman Geotechnical Consultancy with 19 offices and over 300 employees throughout Australia and New Zealand. Our projects cover construction and civil engineering from larger long-term national roading projects to smaller residential developments.
CMW has maintained year-on-year growth since its establishment in 2012, and the Adelaide (Tonsley) office is looking to bring in an Administration / Project Management Assistant (PMA) to assist the busy project managers and field staff.
You'll belong to our Adelaide team of 15 and be connected to the wider administration team for support and training.
This role would be suitable for someone looking for an entry-level administration position. No prior experience is required; however, we are looking for someone who is organized, proactive, and personable. All further training will be provided.

Responsibilities
- Support and undertake activities related to the delivery of projects including;
- Format documents, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and PDF.
- Travel bookings and tracking
- Photocopying, scanning and binding on behalf of engineers.
- Assist the Geotechnical Team with sub-contractor coordination, management including tracking POs on behalf of the PMs;
- Tracking of project deliverables against schedules.
- Assist with the completion of project-related quality documentation.
- Maintaining all CMW vehicles, including but not limited to organizing registrations, repairs, and services, record keeping, and updating registers.
- Assist and support the Office Manager & team leaders in relation to quality and health and safety documentation.
- Assist the Office Manager & HSE Rep with HSE auditing; and
- Co-ordination of office events and meetings
- Minute taking for the Office Manager and Project Managers
- Any other reasonable tasks as directed by the Office Manager
Qualification/Experience
No formal qualifications are needed for this role; however, a strong knowledge of MS Office is required.
Experience or interest in Geotechnical Engineering is advantageous.

Our team in Brisbane is seeking to hire an experienced Senior Geotechnical Engineer with design experience. In your role, you will be undertaking fieldwork, being involved design and reporting of geotechnical projects with the support of senior personnel. This role is designed to develop your understanding as a Geotechnical Engineer and your practical application of engineering knowledge. You will work with the technical team, and as a consultant, you will be developing relationships with clients, specialist contractors other consultants and suppliers. Furthermore, your duties will include:
- Working with the technical team to develop, provide and promote design solutions, options and initiatives to meet client needs
- Undertake technical and non-technical tasks and take responsibility for the accuracy and quality of our work
- Ensure that the projects are completed on time, within budget and to the desired quality standards
- Maintaining good relationships with existing clients and working with the client relations/business development team to target new opportunities
To be eligible we are looking for the following:
- Qualified Civil/Geotechnical Engineer or similar with 8+ years of experience working in a consulting engineering environment
- Have proven experience when it comes to design delivery of complex projects
- You will be either be chartered or working towards your CPEng
- Good analytical skills and prior knowledge of geotechnical design software will be viewed favourably (Plaxis 2D &/or 3D, Rocscience Slide, RSPile, Settle3, LimitState Geo etc.)
- Ability to use basic theoretical knowledge of engineering/engineering geology principals
- Ideally you will hold a CPEng and/or RPEQ or working towards attaining it
- Exceptional organisation and communication skills, both verbal and written
- A high standard of accuracy and attention to detail is a must
- Must hold a relevant working visa in Australia to be able considered

As a graduate at CMW Geosciences, you'll be treated like an industry professional from the get-go. After completing the necessary training and inductions, you'll go out in the field to learn the practical field skills that form the basis of the technical work we do. You'll have access to senior technical staff to guide you through the early stages of your career and fast-track your growth. You'll be exposed to the full project lifecycle, to start to prepare you for career from day one. A Typical Day
CMW Geosciences graduates fulfill our field-based roles. A typical day would include going to site to complete manual field work tasks and testing. Onsite testing might include logging rock and soil bore holes, undertaking hand augers or observing machine excavated test pits. On our construction sites you would be observing piling, retaining walls or ground improvement sites.
If you're in the office, you would likely be processing logs and soil samples, writing technical reports and assisting project managers with deliverables.
Our range of projects are diverse across countries and offices: you could be communicating design elements to contractors on a community housing development in Rotorua. Or, be in regional Queensland at the MacIntyre Windfarm, carrying piling supervision and providing construction phase support. Or, across the country in Perth at Jandakot Airport undertaking CPT testing, dynamic cone penetrations testing, infiltration testing and hand auger boring.
What You'll Need

The Gold Coast office has recently grown and they are looking to bring on a dedicated admin/accounts professional to support their busy technical team.
This role requires an applicant who has a strong background in an accounts/finance role. You must have a high attention to detail and be confident working quickly and efficiently. Wider administration experience would also be valuable.
Responsibilities
- Timely processing of monthly accounts, reporting & reconciliations
- Effective maintenance and administration of a range of office systems such as the Health & Safety System and Quality System in conjunction with the Office Manager
- Efficient running of the office including supplies, mail, calls and messages, couriers, photocopying, binding and general office maintenance
- Accurate documentation of key meetings such as audits, health and safety meetings and team meetings
- Organisation of key communications and events for staff
Qualification/Experience
- Previous experience working within a professional services office environment.
- Experience with accounts and invoicing is preferred
- Relevant qualification in administration, bookkeeping, business or similar.
- MYOB experience preferred
