Senior Mechanical Engineer - Stress Analysis
Fyfes Energy and Resources Group works with major exploration and distribution clients to deliver specialist mining, hydrogen and renewable energy, oil and gas projects across the country. These include mining process plant modifications, upstream flowlines, leases, network gathering and distribution systems, major gas transmission pipelines, oil and gas above ground processing facilities, as well as maintenance and construction related work programs.

The Responsibilities:
Our Perth office is currently looking for an experienced stress analysis Mechanical Engineer to join their team.
As a Mechanical Engineer specialising in Stress Analysis, you will play a crucial role in producing quality designs for our top tier clients. You will consult with clients and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, including drafters, designers, and project managers.
What we will love about you:
- Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering
- Currently based in Australia or have full working rights - possessing a valid working visa
- Demonstrated experience in stress analysis designs within the oil and gas, and or mining industry.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Possess a solid understanding of ASME B31.3 and AS 2885
- Familiar with Peng - Pipe Stress Engineering
- Experienced in building load cases including slug loads, PSV reactive forces etc
- Proficient with Caesar, EPDECOM and Autopipe programs
- Experienced with modelling buried piping systems
- Strong analytical and technical report writing skills
- A strong commitment to client satisfaction and quality work

About the role
Our Energy and Resources Division works with major exploration, production and distribution clients to deliver specialist mining, oil and gas projects and services across the country. These include processing facility modifications, energy optimisation, carbon capture and storage, as well as maintenance, integrity and construction related work programs.
Due to increased client demand, we are looking for a motivated Process Engineer to be responsible for the preparation of high quality designs, documentation and specifications satisfying both organisation and client expectations. We are looking for energetic, team players who can support our group of specialised engineers on a full time basis out of our Brisbane office.
Skills, Knowledge & Requirements:
- Tertiary qualifications in Chemical Engineering
- Minimum 2+ years' experience in Process Engineering
- Experience within the Australian oil and gas or mining industry preferred (other industry experience also welcomed)
- Process Design and Modelling experience preferred
- Strong analytical and technical report writing skills
- Ability to manage conflicting deadlines and client requirements
- A strong commitment to client satisfaction and quality work

This role will see you be responsible for:
- Delivering project management solutions on time, on budget, within scope, and with high quality to our clients.
- Developing and maintaining effective and collaborative relationships with key stakeholders, including client representatives.
- Creating detailed work plans which identifies and sequences delivery activities.
- Reading and understanding engineering drawings
- Determine resource requirements.
- Capture, and process variations within levels of authority or advise management accordingly.
About you:
- You have tertiary engineering qualifications in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering;
- Previous Oil and Gas experience is highly preferrable
- 2 8 years' experience in a similar role

Mechanical Engineer/Senior Mechanical Engineer - Energy & Resources

Our Energy and Resources Engineering Division delivers specialist mining, energy, hydrogen and renewable energy projects across the country. These include process plant modifications, upstream flowlines, well leases, network gathering systems, major gas transmission pipelines, above ground processing facilities, as well as hydrogen facilities such as pipelines, refuelling stations, compression, microgrids and various renewable energy projects.
About the role
Our Brisbane office is currently recruiting for Mechanical Engineers, either mid or senior level to work on a variety of ongoing hydrogen design projects. With multiple roles available, the ideal candidates will have previous hydrogen design experience. However, those with a gas consulting background with a strong desire to specialise in hydrogen projects will also be considered.
The types of hydrogen design projects to be executed are pipelines, refuelling stations, metering and control stations, compression facilities and micro grids.
About you:
- You are a Mechanical Engineer or Senior Mechanical Engineer with 2 - 8 years' experience and have ambition to progress to a lead role in the next couple of years.
- You have experience in the delivery of piping engineering design within the local oil and gas industry.
- Piping stress analysis and checking isometrics and piping arrangements comes as second nature.
- You have practical working knowledge of Australian mechanical and piping design standards (ASME B31.3, AS4041, AS2885, and APGA CoP)
- You have strong analytical and technical report writing skills
- You enjoy working on a diverse range of projects
- You have RPEQ status or close to attaining
- You are a strong communicator and respectful of your peers
- Attention to detail is a given.
- Most importantly, you want to share your experience with our Grads and help mentor them to become even more amazing.

- The structural engineering outcomes in conceptual design, front end engineering, detailed design, procurement, construction, commissioning, handover, and operations whilst ensuring regulatory compliance
- Developing innovative solutions through the application of engineering knowledge and judgement, including, concrete supports, structures, skid design and structural design principles
- Structural construction scopes of work
- Assisting with growing the team and developing engineers and designers
- Reviewing analysis models and calculations
- Carrying out complex structural analysis
- Preparing and reviewing assessment reports

About you:
- You are a Senior Structural Engineer ideally with Chartership status or working towards Chartership
- You have experience in the delivery of structural engineering services within the Australian Mining and energy and resources industries
