Qualifications:
- Minimum of a Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent (i.e. General Education Development (GED) or Academic and Career Entrance (ACE)).
- Ministry of Labour Worker Health and Safety Awareness in 4 Steps training certificate is required
- Previous housekeeping experience, preferably in a retirement home, long term care facility, etc. is required.
- An understanding of the needs and issues of the older adult is required.
- An understanding of effective Infection Prevention and Control practices is required.
- Familiarity with WHMIS, Occupational Health and Safety and Sanitation Code.
- Availability to work weekdays/weekends and for on-call coverage for sick call replacement is required.
- Good attendance record is required.
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening is required (dated within 6 months of start of employment).
- Two-Step TB testing is required.
- Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Demonstrated knowledge of infection control cleaning and isolation procedures including waste handling and management procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to understand, interpret and apply written and oral instructions, including dilutions, Safety Data Sheets (S.D.S.), policies and procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to push equipment and carts and safely lift a minimum of 25 kilograms.
- Demonstrated computer skills with basic proficiency in Microsoft Office software (e.g. Word, Excel, and Outlook) and applicable patient information systems.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively interact and communicate with patients, families, and healthcare workers.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively and efficiently as a team member in a fast-paced environment.

Position Summary: This role is specifically for Wellbrook Place. Reporting to the Director of Care, the Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing excellent resident-centred care while supporting Registered Practical Nurses (RPNs) and Personal Support Workers (PSWs). The RN also ensures operational excellence when referring to daily activities at PCH. Under the direction of the Associate Director of Care (ADOC), the RN provides professional nursing care to residents. RNs also supervise care provided by RPNs and PSWs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provides nursing care that complies with organizational policies, regulations, physicians orders, resident-first philosophy and resident care plans
- Organizes and co-ordinates Personal Care with hospital, home, and community to meet individual, family, and group needs.
- Ensures the supply, control, administration and safe storage of medication
- Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing care to meet physical, psychological, emotional, spiritual, cultural and social needs of residents
- Establishes and maintains good human relations with professional and non-professional staff, residents, families, volunteers, and the community
- Follows professional guidelines of College of Nurses and all policies and procedures while contributing to the development of nursing policies as requested
- Responds to all emergencies immediately and provides support to other staff, residents and families in these situations
- Participates in nursing practice meetings and care conferences with interdisciplinary team on a regular basis
- Engages in ongoing communication with families to inform them of changes in resident health status
- Liases with Admissions Coordinator, welcomes new residents and ensures assessments and information are provided in a timely manner
- Demonstrates professional working knowledge of all equipment used at PCH
Qualifications:
- Nursing degree (BScN) required
- Current registration as an RN with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Current Medication Certificate which meets the College of Nurses Standards of Practice
- Members R.N.A.O./Gerontological Nursing Association preferred
- One year experience in a long-term care facility with knowledge and interest in gerontology.

Responsibilities:
