Plant Metallurgist

Role Details:
Reporting to the Senior Metallurgist, you will be responsible for providing technical metallurgical information to operations and maintenance personnel to enable them to operate the processing plant in an environmentally safe and profitable manner.
This role is offered on an 8 days on 6 days off roster and is Fly in Fly out from Perth.

About the role:
- Contribute to achieving budgeted production performance, including tonnes treated, gold produced and plant recovery;
- Ensure the treatment plant is operated in accordance with task instructions and operational parameters;
- Effective planning, management and monitoring of activities whilst maintaining statutory compliance;
- Utilise assets to maximise return, including the development and application of new procedures, processes, and technology;
- Actively participate in continuous improvement by analysing data and identifying opportunities for improvements to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of operational performance;
- Provide leadership and mentoring to the Process Supervisors, Process Operators, Graduate Metallurgists and Metallurgical Assistants and ongoing technical support to the broader Processing Department;
- Assist with the implementation and continuation of ICMI cyanide code compliance;
- Correct and/or report safety and environmental hazards when identified to mitigate risk and reduce the occurrence of incidents and/or injury;
- Consider the financial impact of your actions so that you can proactively participate in and assist your team to manage costs effectively;
- Build strong, productive interpersonal relationships within the Processing Department, other areas of the business.
About you:
- A recognised tertiary degree in Metallurgy or relevant discipline
- Sound knowledge of process technologies and equipment
- Proven experience in a similar role within a mineral processing plant, preferably gold
- Exposure to implementation and maintenance of ICMI cyanide code
- Valid Drivers Licence

Technical Services Manager
Our client is a Tier 1 hardrock ore producer who is fantastic at promoting both here & with their international operations and operate a number of WA mines.
We are now looking to support their underground workforce by sourcing a passionate underground focussed Technical Services Manager. This is a full time role with our client on a 8:6 / 4:3 roster, a short FIFO from Perth, and reports directly to the General Manager.

There is over $100M planned in capital expenditure in 2023, at about a 25% growth / 75% sustained mix.

With a focus on delivering strong business plans, the Technical Services Manager will oversee the delivery of the planning, geotech, survey & infra functional teams. This role plays a critical component of supplying input and leadership of teams delivering into the Strategic Planning, Life of Mine, Resource, Reserve & Budgetary planning cycles.
The duties of the role will require you to
- ensure alignment of decisions with the business and strategic plans;
- provide expert technical guidance in your field;
- monitor & improve mining systems, building supporting documentation, engaging with the Mining Manager;
- ensure the delivery of design, schedule, geotechnical, ventilation, survey, paste & waste backfill are optimised, plus technical and professionally sound;
- modernise the mine through the execution of clearly defined projects.
Solid large scale underground mining experience in hardrock, ideally gold, is required, as is your previous experience in a similar role and a minimum of a Mine Engineering Degree, along with Business, Management or Mineral Economics post grad qualifications.

Production Superintendent - Open Pit Mining
Our client is in the enviable position of running a very profitable gold mine and has firmed up a significant reserve.
Currently producing 3-400,000 ounces for the next 3 years and a 10 + year mine life, with over 3 million ounces of defined mineral resources and closing on 5 million measured and indicated. When you're mining at under $1,500 per ounce, you end up looking at significant mine and mining operations.
To keep a mine like that running effectively and efficiently, we are now looking for an Open Pit Production Superintendent to oversee the delivery of the mining plan throughout all mining areas. This is a full time role with our client, FIFO Perth on a 8:6 roster.

The role will require you to
- provide operational direction, input, and advice for the safe mining of the resource while ensuring its compliance to the prescribed mine plan, meeting meet production targets;
- optimise design and scheduling, including the minimisation of ore movement and dilution,
- project management and ensuring delivery of ancillary tasks to support operational delivery, including the maintenance and construction of haul roads;
- evaluate production performance;
- prepare & manage department budgets and forecasts
- build and maintain effective relationships in order to retain a high performance workforce through engagement, communication and motivation;
- undertake periodic reviews of standard operating procedures to ensure application effectiveness, and compliance with changing / developing work practices and codes of practice / best practice guidelines;
- understand and assist in the communication of the strategic mine plan and provide full analysis of results;
- lead the implementation of continuous improvement projects within the mining department;
- delivering effective leadership, including sharing your knowledge and experience with the team to encourage increased performance.
To be successful in this role, you will need significant experience in high volume open pit mine environment, a WA unrestricted Quarry Managers ticket, and ideally a mine engineering degree or significant operational experience. We'd love to see any qualifications in business or project management too.

We are looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer, at Senior level, who is capable of supporting projects, employees and contractors workers to work safely, effectively and efficiently in delivering beneficial what will predominately be maintenance projects.
The role will involve the provision of technical direction to the processing maintenance and project teams, improving existing electrical infrastructure and ensuring that installation and operations conform to standards and requirements. You will prepare electrical systems specifications, technical drawings and process flow & develop company standards for use throughout the site and assist that all statutory obligations are managed and recorded. As a Senior Electrical engineer, you will support the maintenance team with fault finding, condition monitoring improvement projects and major upgrades and equipment procurement.
Other duties of the role will require you to
- participate in various stages of studies, design, construction, testing and commissioning execution for projects;
- contribute to the long-term sustainability through the identification, coordination, and management of energy related projects including the review and implementation of improved energy efficiency across existing infrastructure and equipment;
- ensure compliance with Australian and International Standards, Codes and legislative requirements, establish electrical standards, specifications and guidelines & assist with statutory compliance obligations;
- contribute to the activities of contractors in a cost-effective and efficient manner, ensuring that their work is aligned with our goals and they are aware of performance targets & have the resources to succeed;
- assist the company to achieve production targets through the timely completion of tasks by demonstrating knowledge in interpreting and understanding of plans, drawings, and schedules, systematically working to achieve planned outcomes, and assisting the team wherever necessary;
- ensure organisational capability monitoring the reliability, availability, and cost effectiveness of assets under control;
- be involved in downtime investigations and root cause analysis along with critical spares analysis/optimisation;
- supervise others in the electrical stream, contractors, consultants and other engineers.
About you:
- Be an established electrical leader with tertiary qualifications in Electrical or Process Control.
- Have experience in a similar role with knowledge of HV reticulation, processing fixed plant equipment, and infrastructure services.
- Hold sound knowledge of legislative and statutory requirements and security standards.
- Have a good understanding of Power Systems and the use of Power systems modelling software.
- Hold good experience in gold processing plant operation, distribution of high and low voltage electricity, PLCs and SCADA, LV Drives & Instrumentation.
- Have experience developing maintenance strategies for both HV and LV assets.

Our major gold-producing client is looking for an experienced open-pit Geotechnical Engineer. Reporting to the Senior Geotechnical Engineer you will be responsible for using your proven experience to achieve development and production on budget whilst complying with the OHS and Environmental Management Systems standards.
You will be expected to lead toolbox meetings; investigations; training; assist with the implementation; and participate in and contribute to audits.
Provide a geotechnical service to the mine through understanding, complying, mentoring, and liaising with business partners to promote full statutory compliance with mining regulations, legislation, and company safety objectives relevant to ground control.
Collect and analyse geotechnical data including investigation, analysis of rockfall events, and ground control issues.
Undertake daily production tasks relating to geotechnical engineering including mine plans, blasting plans, survey instructions, documentation of inspections and data collection, monitoring, analysis, and QAQC.
Actively identify and manage geotechnical risks and develop systems to monitor and manage these.
Ensure QAQC, hazard maps &/or monitoring reports are compiled and issued monthly.
You will need:
Bachelors Degree in Geotechnics, Mining Engineering, Geological Engineering, or Geology.
Demonstrated experience in Geotechnical Engineering on an open-pit environment.
Working knowledge of the Mines Safety and Inspection Act & Regulations.
Ideally Member of AusIMM (CP preferred)
Possess a valid drivers licence
