Media Strategist
Media Strategist

Our client is a successful marketing and advertising agency working on some of the most exciting projects in the city and wants you to join their team.
The Media Strategist (traditional + digital media) is responsible for successful media campaigns, utilizing traditional and digital media expertise. They must have experience with various media types, including bus wraps, print, TV, radio, programmatic, Google, Facebook, and Instagram.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Media Research & Strategy
- Monitor media trends across digital, print, broadcast, OOH, and bilingual social media (RED and WeChat).
- Identify new media opportunities and technologies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate media into marketing strategies.
- Create client-facing deliverables for paid growth strategy.
Media Planning and Buying
- Work with clients and Account Managers to develop media plans.
- Define scope, budgets, and timelines.
- Conduct client research and identify appropriate media placements.
- Coordinate with vendors for media proposals.
- Present media plans to clients.
- Negotiate with vendors for timely placements.
- Issue POs for media placements.
Media Reporting
- Compile client-facing media reports on campaign results.
- Assess campaign success based on industry benchmarks.
Vendor Management
- Build relationships with English and Ethnic vendors.
- Grow influencer and KOL roster.
- Coordinate vendor actions, pricing, placements, and troubleshooting.
- Ensure timely processing of media invoices.
- Negotiate vendor contracts and packages.
- Stay updated on vendor offerings and promotions.
Process and Administration
- Organize media inventory.
- Manage media admin tracking sheets.
- Optimize processes for efficiency.
Chinese Marketing
- Register and renew WeChat and RED official accounts.
- Maintain expertise in Chinese marketing platforms.
- Develop paid growth strategies.
Industry Knowledge
- Understand the client's industry and our services.
- Stay updated on Chinese market trends and digital media opportunities.
- Maintain knowledge of digital marketing platforms.
- Continuously update job knowledge.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
The ideal candidate is highly coachable, intellectually curious, and team-oriented. They should possess:
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in marketing or relevant field.
- 2-3 years of media or similar experience.
- Media experience in Canada.
- Proficiency in media terminology, digital metrics, and analytics tools.
- Legal entitlement to work in Canada.
Technical Skills
- Intermediate Excel or Google Sheets skills.
- Knowledge of digital marketing (Google Ads, Facebook, Instagram, Programmatic Ads).
- Strong writing skills in English, with Chinese as an advantage.
- Proficiency in remote work tools.
Bonus Points
- Client service experience.
- Knowledge of the local real estate market.
- Cantonese and Mandarin language skills.

JOB OVERVIEW
As the Bilingual Media Manager, you'll be the go-to person for all things media, staying ahead of the dynamic media landscape. Collaborating closely with the Account Services team, you'll drive successful campaigns by devising media plans, negotiating buys, and managing a trusted vendor network. Your ambition drives you to make impactful changes and establish a robust media team foundation.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Team & People Management:
- Lead and mentor a team of 2-3, managing performance and fostering strong relationships.
- Oversee department scorecards, ensuring metrics align with goals.
- Conduct 1:1s with direct reports biweekly, provide feedback/coaching, and offer emotional support when needed.
- Conduct quarterly performance reviews, providing actionable feedback.
- Summarize key findings for the Director of Campaign Operations.
- Process Management & Administration:
- Organize and maintain media data and inventory.
- Keep internal databases updated on media opportunities.
- Develop templates for media research, planning, execution, and reporting.
- Identify and implement solutions for process issues.
- Maintain clear records of channel spends, discounts, revenue, and profitability.
- Media Research, Planning & Strategy:
- Stay updated on media trends across various outlets including digital direct, print, broadcast, OOH, and bilingual social media (eg. WeChat and RED).
- Identify new opportunities and collaborate on media plans.
- Conduct client research, define media scope, budgets, and timelines.
- Manage and assign media deliverables, ensuring quality checks.
- Media Execution & Reporting:
- Manage the team in executing media buys and updating tracking sheets.
- Extract and summarize performance data, ensuring accurate visualizations.
- Compile client-facing reports highlighting results and analyses.
- Vendor Management:
- Build and maintain relationships with vendors.
- Attend regular vendor meetings in the BC lower mainland area.
- Provide guidance on prioritizing vendor development.
- Drive negotiations for media packages, costs, and deadlines.
- Manage vendor contracts and liaise with Finance for invoicing.
IDEAL CANDIDATE:As a highly analytical and knowledgeable media planner with 3+ years of relevant experience, you excel in building effective campaigns. You have local media experience. Your proficiency in English, Chinese (Mandarin preferred), and technical skills in digital marketing (Google ads, Instagram and Facebook, Programmatic ads) along with intermediate spreadsheet skills for reporting/analysis make you a desirable candidate.

YOUR ROLE:As a client-facing Digital Project Manager, you ensure the success of marketing campaigns. You oversee project roadmaps, identify and mitigate risks, and allocate resources efficiently. Reporting to the Account Director, you create project processes, workback schedules, and ensure smooth campaign delivery.
RESPONSIBILITIES:Campaign Execution
- Collaborate with the Account Manager to align on client goals and project scope.
